Tia joined Progression in 2019 and works on the Occupational Rehabilitation team. She strives to help clients discover and re-engage with what matters to them, rather than focusing on their injury or condition.

She grew up in sunny South Africa and spent most of her spare time doing music, drama, creative writing and enjoying the beautiful South African nature.

She graduated from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 1996. She started her career by working in a psychiatric hospital and has had a special interest in mental health ever since. However, her real passion was hand therapy and she pursued that when she switched to the private sector and started working with clients with a variety of physical conditions. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Therapy from Pretoria University in 2001 and then worked primarily in hand therapy at a military hospital and university.

In 2008 she moved to Vernon with her family and took a break from occupational therapy before obtaining her Canadian certification and starting to work part-time in the private sector.  The family moved back to South Africa for a few years and returned to Vernon in 2018.

Throughout her career she was involved with work ability assessments and work rehabilitation.

In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and friends, read, hike, paddle and ski.
