Marcia graduated from The University of Wales, School of Medicine in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. She and her husband Stein spent most of their career in Prince George before calling Vernon home. Marcia has been supporting people with physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness for over 25 years. Marcia realized early in her career that a person’s mental well-being is fundamentally linked to their physical recovery and vice versa. She became curious about the mind + body connection as a way to further support a person’s recovery and began her journey in mindfulness and meditation 10 years ago.
With the desire to meet a high level of competency as a mindfulness teacher, she went on to pursue her certification in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and completed Level 1 MBSR qualifications in 2021 with the Centre for Mindfulness Canada, North Vancouver in collaboration with the Mindfulness Center, at Brown University School of Public Health, Providence Rhode Island.
Marcia is grateful for her semi-retired role as a physiotherapist/clinical assistant to Dr. Jen Thomas and also for being able to bring mindfulness teachings to the rehabilitation program here at Progression.
Marcia loves nature and can be found hiking mountains, cycling, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and out enjoying the beautiful lakes. She is grounded in mindfulness and enjoys every opportunity to share this healing practice with others.
